About the role

The Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and practical Science lessons that inspire curiosity and scientific inquiry.
The teacher will support students in developing scientific knowledge, investigative skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them through the Cambridge curriculum.
The teacher will support students’ academic development while leading STEAM and enrichment opportunities that promote creativity, innovation, problem-solving and participation in academic competitions.
Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
Promote scientific investigation, experimentation and critical thinking.
Ensure practical activities are conducted safely and in accordance with school procedures.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Prepare students for Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE examinations where applicable.
Differentiate instruction to support varying learning needs.
Lead and coordinate STEAM Club and enrichment activities.
Organise and prepare students for academic competitions such as SASMO, SIMOC, ICIA, Quiz Bee and other local and international events.
Support project-based learning, innovation activities and academic showcases.
Support the development of cross-curricular STEAM opportunities across the Primary and Secondary phases.
Maintain Science resources and equipment effectively.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Communicate student progress with parents and guardians.
Support extracurricular clubs, competitions and enrichment activities.
Support the preparation of students for academic competitions and events such as ICIA, science fairs, innovation challenges and other local and international opportunities.
Contribute actively to school events, initiatives, educational visits, exhibitions and wider school programmes.
Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular learning, STEAM initiatives and whole-school improvement projects.
Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Education or a related subject area Teaching qualification, certification or licence preferred.
Experience teaching Science within the Cambridge curriculum is desirable.
Strong practical and theoretical science knowledge.
Experience coordinating STEAM activities, clubs or academic competitions is desirable.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
