About the role
- Start, stop, and monitor control panels of milling machines.
- Adjust roll settings, flow rates, and temperatures to meet production targets.
- Conduct hourly checks on moisture, fineness, and extraction efficiency.
- Coordinate with quality control teams to ensure finished flour meets food safety and company standards.
- Oversee the intake of bulk grains (e.g., wheat, corn) and ensure raw materials are properly cleaned and conditioned before milling.
- Perform preventative maintenance, lubricate moving parts, and clear blockages.
- Keep the facility clean and adhere to strict hygiene and safety regulations.
- Maintain logs of production data, processing times, and equipment performance.
- Report equipment failures and inconsistencies to the production manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; specialized training or certification in grain milling or food manufacturing is highly advantageous.
- Previous experience in a food processing, manufacturing, or agricultural environment is typically required.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects (e.g., 50+ lbs) regularly.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and the ability to read gauges, computer screens, and flow diagrams.
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and workplace safety regulations.
