About the role

The Local Education Officer – Brao and Kavet is responsible for the daily implementation, coordination, and monitoring at the grassroots level of the project’s MT-MLE activities within the target villages speaking Brao and Kavet languages to ensure indigenous children receive quality and culturally appropriate education.
Teachers implement improved MT-MLE teaching methods.
Students with learning difficulties and children with disabilities receive additional support, and age-appropriate ideas on climate resilience are introduced into the classroom.
Facilitate and support the provision of pre-school, primary school, and literacy classes in the communities.
Regularly travel to schools and classrooms to observe teaching and provide guidance to community literacy teachers.
Support the provision of in-service teacher training and verify the implementation of MT-MLE methods in the classroom.
Coordinate the testing, distribution, and use of MT-MLE curriculum, textbooks, and teaching-learning materials in Brao and Kavet languages.
Promote student enrollment, regular attendance, and retention, with particular attention to girls and children with disabilities (approximately 5%).
Build working relationships with school principals, teachers, School Management Committees (SMCs), village and commune authorities, parents, and indigenous community leaders.
Collect, verify, and report grassroots data against project indicators, disaggregated by gender and disability, and compile success stories and lessons learned.
Prepare action plans, budget plans, logistics, and ensure compliance with child protection/safeguarding policies and the organization’s code of conduct.

Requirements

Proficient in Brao or Kavet languages and Khmer.
English is a priority.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Rural Development, or related fields, or holding a teacher training certificate or having relevant experience may be considered.
Experience in grassroots education, community development, or NGOs working in indigenous communities or remote rural areas for at least 2 years.
General and Technical Skills: Expected skills: Proficient in Brao or Kavet languages and Khmer.
Skills in facilitation, communication, training, planning, reporting, basic computer skills and mobile data collection applications.
Experience in Multilingual Education (MT-MLE), inclusive education, early childhood education, or non-formal literacy.
